54, 56, 58 Thistle Street, Edinburgh

54, 56, and 58 Thistle Street is a later 19th century warehouse located on Thistle Street, with earlier warehouses from the late 18th century found in the southwest Thistle Street Lane. The building is constructed of cream sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings.

The Thistle Street elevation features a large four-storey, five-bay warehouse. The raised ground floor has a central entrance flanked by large bipartite windows in each bay, with a band course above. Each bay on the upper floors has windows with tabbed margins and a cill course at the second floor. The windows on the third floor are positioned just below the eaves course.

The rear elevation facing the lane has four bays and includes a covered bridge link to the premises on George Street. The building has four-pane timber windows and stone stacks.

In the southwest Thistle Street Lane, the principal warehouse is flanked by irregular two-storey ranges, with six bays to the east and twelve to the west.

The interiors were not seen in 1995.
