Description

Lochend Bond is a former bonded warehouse built around 1890, featuring a symmetrical design with six bays and four storeys, situated on a terraced site. The main front is constructed of stugged, squared, and snecked sandstone, accented with polished ashlar dressings, while the rear and side elevations are made of coursed rubble. There is a base course and a string course at the first floor level. The central entrance, located within the second and third bays, has a segmental arch, with regularly spaced segmentally-arched windows on either side and on the upper floors.

The northwest (rear) elevation is blank, except for the gable raggle of a neighbouring building that has been demolished. The southwest elevation consists of seven bays and is four storeys high, featuring regularly spaced horizontal slit windows, except for the second, third, fifth, and sixth bays on the third floor. The northeast elevation is also blank, apart from loading doors at each floor that are centered on the elevation.

The ground floor windows are protected by wrought-iron bars. The entrance arch has a two-leaf vertically-boarded timber door, and there are two-leaf vertically-boarded shutters at the ground floor window to the outer right. Additionally, there are cast-iron downpipes, ashlar coped multi-flue apex stacks, and ashlar skews that are shared with the neighbouring tenements.
