Description
This building at 214 Leith Walk in Edinburgh dates from around 1800 and is a two-storey, three-bay town house that was once part of a terrace, featuring a recessed front garden. The exterior is made of coursed rubble and is rendered with painted margins at the front, while the rear is painted.
On the front elevation, there is a corniced doorway with a letterbox fanlight located to the right bay, with a single window above it on the first floor. The centre and left bays each have a single window. A cast-iron skylight is also present.
The rear elevation features single windows and a rectangular flat-roofed extension at the ground floor. To the right, the wallhead has been heightened to form an addition for a door.
The northeast elevation is gabled and includes a heavy apex stack along with remnants of a mutual gable, with fireplaces and brick infill visible.
The building has modern 12-pane timber sash and case replacement windows and a slate roof with a metal ridge. The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1993. Additionally, there are plain iron railings at the front, which were added around 1990.
