Description

Thomas P Marwick, 1880-1881. 4-storey, 4-bay Scottish 17th century style tenement, forming part of curving terrace. Squared and snecked sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Base course; dividing band course above ground floor; corbel table and string course above 2nd floor; chamfered reveals. E ENTRANCE elevation: central doorway; panelled door; plate glass fanlight. Corbelled chimney breast with shell detail at 2nd floor above. Single windows in gabled flanking bays; heraldic datestone "1881" set in gablehead. Full-height canted windows in bays to outer left and right, corbelled to square at crowstepped gableheads; stone finials (crescent and thistle); hoodmoulded blank tablet set in gableheads. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; corniced T-section gablehead stack; coped mutual stacks; moulded cans; scroll skewputts to outer bays; gabletted skewputts to central gable; original rainwater hoppers. INTERIORS: not seen 1991.
