Description
3 York Road in Edinburgh is a plain classical house built around 1820. It is two stories high with three bays and features a piend roof. The front is made of sandstone ashlar, while the sides and rear are constructed from random rubble. The building has a base course, a dividing course, and an eaves cornice.
On the principal elevation, the windows are regularly spaced and unusually tall at the ground level, with low sills. The entrance features a timber panelled door topped with a bat-wing fanlight, set within an architraved doorpiece. The windows are timber sash and case, with a 16-pane lying-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with modern materials, and there are stone-coped corniced wallhead stacks with octagonal cans.
The property is also defined by low stone-coped rubble boundary walls and corniced panelled ashlar gatepiers, which are painted.
