Description

The Eastern Lighthouse at Newhaven Harbour in Edinburgh, built around 1830, features a circular plan with a battered ashlar base made of weathered yellow sandstone blocks. The lighthouse has polished ashlar raised margins, a projecting base course, a cornice, and a blocking course with a chamfered edge. A concrete dome replaces the original lantern. There is a slightly recessed door on the east side and a single blocked window on the south side. The base course is surrounded by horizontal stone slabs, with concrete extending beyond. Full-height railings on the west side mark the boundary with the development to the rear. The interior was not seen in 1996.
