2 Pier Place, Newhaven, Edinburgh

2 Pier Place in Newhaven, Edinburgh, is a mid to later 18th century building that was recast and converted into two flats by Ian Lindsay & Partners around 1970. It is an asymmetrical, two-storey, four-bay L-plan block that forms the end of Wester Close, with a stair located in the angle at the rear and a gable end facing Pier Place. The exterior is harled and limewashed, featuring raised and painted cement surrounds around the openings.

On the north elevation facing Pier Place, the doorway is offset to the right of center, with a single window in the outer right bay and single windows in the remaining bays to the left. The first floor has single windows in the outer left and right bays. The building has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, and a replacement boarded timber door at the entry. The roof is machine-made red pantiled with a grey slate easing course, and it features precast concrete skews and replacement rainwater goods. Additionally, there are precast concrete copes and circular cans on the harled apex stacks to the north and east.
