4, 5 Wester Close, Edinburgh

4 and 5 Wester Close is a mid to later 18th century building that was recast and converted by Ian Lindsay & Partners around 1970. It is a two-storey, four-bay block designed in a vernacular style, forming part of a terrace with a rectangular plan and a symmetrical arrangement. The exterior is harled and limewashed, featuring raised and painted concrete surrounds around the openings. There is an exterior stair with timber railings leading to the first floor, and the entries are accessed through two-leaf timber boarded doors.

On the entrance elevation, there are two timber doors on the ground floor located in the central bay, which is set within a stair recess for No 4. There is also a storage door facing north beneath the stair. The stairs lead to the first floor entry for No 5, which is aligned directly above. Each floor has single windows in the outer left and right bays, featuring 12-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is machine-made with red pantiles, a grey slate easing course, and raised skews. There is a harled apex stack to the north, along with a precast concrete cope and circular cans.
