51 Regent Street, Portobello, Edinburgh

51 Regent Street in Portobello, Edinburgh, is an early 19th-century classical house with a later addition. It is a single-storey, two-bay structure built of painted droved ashlar, featuring a polished ashlar canted window, a base course, a cornice, and a blocking course.

The west elevation facing Regent Street has a later canted window in the right bay. On the left, there is a vermiculated ashlar doorpiece with a deep-set panelled door and a rectangular fanlight above it.

The east elevation at the rear is not fully visible, but it includes a large two-storey extension projecting to the northeast, which dates from the earlier 19th century.

The building has two-pane timber sash and case windows and a piended slate roof with a mutual gable, as well as a piended slate roof on the rear extension. There is a rendered mutual stack.

The interior has not been seen since 1994, but it features encaustic tiles in the vestibule. The boundary walls are made of ashlar with coping.
