45 Regent Street, Portobello, Edinburgh

43 Regent Street in Portobello, Edinburgh, is an early 19th-century building with later additions and alterations. It consists of a single storey pair of identical three-bay classical houses. The exterior features painted droved ashlar with polished dressings, harled and blank side elevations, and harled extensions at the rear. There is a base course, cornice, and blocking course, along with moulded architraves around the windows and raised quoins on each house.

The west (principal) elevation has consoled doorpieces with a cornice raised at the consoles. Each house has modern doors in the centre bays, with rectangular plate glass fanlights above. There are windows in the flanking bays, and a basement window in the left bay of No 43.

The east (rear) elevation includes later single storey flat-roofed extensions at the centre of each house.

No 43 features plate glass sash and case timber windows, while No 45 has four-pane timber sash and case windows. The slate roof has coped skews that divide and terminate the roof, with a gablehead stack on No 43, a rendered and lined mutual apex stack, and a rendered gablehead end stack on No 45.

The interiors were not seen in 1994. The boundary walls consist of rubble with coping for No 43 and rendered with coping for No 45.
