Description
48 Regent Street is an earlier 19th-century single-storey, three-bay symmetrical Gothick house, featuring a later linking wing on the right. The building is constructed of polished ashlar and includes a base course, cornice, blocking course, Tudor hoodmoulds, chamfered arrises, and stop-chamfered angles.
The principal elevation faces southeast and is flanked by four slender Ionic columns that support a raised architrave. In the centre bay, there is a deep-set panelled door with a rectangular fanlight above, which has six pointed-arch panes. The flanking bays contain windows, and there is an additional window to the left of the linking wing.
The northwest rear elevation was not visible in 1994. The house features timber sash and case windows, with a six-pane design on the lower half and a simple Gothic small-pane pattern on the upper half. The linking wing has a Tudor arched window with timber mullioned Gothic-style casement. The roof is piended with grey slate and has ashlar wallhead stacks on the side elevations, while the linking wing has a flat roof.
The boundary walls are made of ashlar with coping and were formerly topped with railings.
