15-17 Windsor Place, Portobello, Edinburgh

15-17 Windsor Place is an early 19th century Tudor-Gothick house that has undergone later alterations and additions. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure that is now subdivided by floor. The building features finely droved ashlar with vermiculated dressings, possibly all tar covered, while the south elevation is made of rubble and the north elevation has squared render. It has a base course and strip quoins.

The principal elevation is symmetrical, with a deep-set flush panelled Edinburgh door at the centre, topped by a rectangular fanlight with ornamental tracery and a vermiculated doorpiece with a moulded square hoodmould. Above this, there is a blinded window with leaded lights at the first floor. Flanking the entrance are single-storey canted windows, with first-floor windows above that also have moulded square hoodmoulds. To the right, there is a later brick staircase extension with render that provides access to the first floor.

The rear elevation is not visible, but it features a T-shaped extension from the central bay. The ground floor has pointed-arch windows, and there are timber lattice windows on either side of the canted windows. The centre has ten-lying pane timber casement windows with ornamental tracery in the upper sections, some of which incorporate stained glass. The first floor has modern timber mullioned windows with pivoted upper sections. The roof is covered with purple slate and features valanced canted windows, along with rendered and coped stacks.

The boundary walls are rendered and have coping.
