5 Windsor Place, Portobello, Edinburgh

5 Windsor Place is a later 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay classical house, which is paired with another similar house to the south. The front elevation is painted, while the side and rear elevations feature bull-faced render. Architectural details include a base course, a mutulated and moulded string course, a cill course at the first floor, an eaves course, a cornice, and slightly raised quoins.

The principal elevation features a central nine-panelled door with a plate glass rectangular fanlight above, and slightly raised quoining around the margin. Above the door, there is a square recess with a margin and corbels at the first floor. To the left, there is a window at ground level, and a broad window above on the first floor, which may have originally included a mullion. The bay to the right has a rendered canted window at ground level with panelled margins and a cornice, and a bipartite window at the first floor with panelled margins.

At the rear, there are single-storey extensions at the central and left bays. The principal elevation features plate glass timber sash and case windows, except for the modern timber window at the first floor of the right bay. The rear has four-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is slate with a glass box skylight at the apex of the right bay, and there are rendered and coped apex stacks.

The boundary walls are rendered with droved ashlar coping at the front and bull-faced render at the rear. The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1994.
