Description

The Prince of Wales Fountain, located at 44 Promenade in Portobello, Edinburgh, was built in 1860. It is made of pink sandstone and granite and originally featured water jets. The fountain has a square-plan base with low, semi-circular moulded granite drinking troughs on each side. Plain pilasters flank the outer sections of each side. The upper part of the fountain is drum-shaped and is adorned with carved swags, topped with a large urn finial that has gadrooning.
