Description
138, 140, and 142 Rose Street in Edinburgh is a tenement building constructed by 1780, with later alterations. It features three stories and an attic, comprising six bays and two shops at ground level that flank a common stair door. Number 138 has later 19th-century two-leaf arched doors, while number 142 shows traces of a 19th-century front. The exterior is made of coursed rubble and includes a pair of piend-roofed dormers.
The rear elevation is irregular, consisting of four stories and four bays, also built from rubble. The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass, although there are modern tilt and turn windows on the second floor. The building has brick stacks, one of which is rendered, and is covered with grey slates.
The interior was not seen in 1995.
