Description
Camsail is a mid 19th century, two-storey, three-bay gabled house with a later 19th century bay addition on the outer left, featuring a rambling plan. The exterior is finished in grey-painted harl with painted sandstone margins and dressings, and it has advanced eaves with exposed rafters.
On the southeast (main) elevation, the original three-bay house has a broad gable on the left side. The later 19th century addition includes a canted window at ground level with a slate roof and a window above it. There is a basket-arched doorway leading to a corniced porch in the re-entrant angle at the center, which features a blocking course, a four-panelled door, and a two-leaf fanlight above. A small window is positioned above the doorway. The gable on the outer right breaks the eaves, and there is a window at ground level. The later bay on the outer left is slightly recessed and includes a canted window at ground level with a slate roof and a window above, with the gable also breaking the eaves.
The house features twelve 12-pane sash and case windows, along with four-pane plate glass sash and case windows in the canted windows and the outer left bay. The roof is covered with grey slate and has lead flashings, with sandstone ashlar corniced stacks topped with octagonal cans.
