Description
Bathwell at Rosneath Castle Policies is a classical bathwell built in the mid to late 18th century. It is a single-storey, three-bay structure with a rectangular plan, constructed from pink sandstone ashlar featuring polished cream and green ashlar with deeply channelled rustication and dressings. The interior is lined with brick.
On the north elevation, there is a square door set within a semi-circular arch at the center, adorned with voussoirs and rustication. Flanking windows are also set into the rusticated masonry and feature shallow keystones. A string course runs along the line of the springing of the arch, topped with a pediment.
The west and east elevations each have a square-headed window set within a semicircular arched recess at the center.
Inside, the bathwell has a brick-lined interior with visible joist holes and an opening that has been broken through the back wall. There is a recess at the southwest angle that includes a flue channel.
