Portkill Lodge, Portkil House

Portkill Lodge, located at Portkil House, is an earlier 19th-century cottage that underwent alterations in the early 20th century. It is a low, single-storey, broad structure, featuring cement harling with ashlar margins, mullions, and dressings. The building has chamfered reveals, stop-chamfered arrises, and quoins, along with advanced boarded eaves.

The southwest elevation is symmetrically arranged with three bays. At the center is a round-headed doorway, with a tall stack directly above it. The flanking bays are slightly advanced and contain tripartite windows.

The northwest elevation, which was originally the coach house, has had its original openings infilled to accommodate three casement windows. There is a broad coach door in the center, flanked by two additional doors.

The interior was not seen in 1993. The exterior features three horizontal-pane fixed windows and six-pane casement windows. The roof is a shallow pitched grey slate piended roof with lead flashings, and it has a tall coped wallhead stack with chamfered arrises and a single octagonal can.
