Description
Easter Garth is a house located in Rosneath Village, dating from the earlier to mid 19th century, with later additions. It is a 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan structure featuring a rear wing. The exterior is finished in cream-painted harl, accented with honey-coloured sandstone margins and dressings, quoin strips, a base course, and an eaves cornice.
The main (east) elevation presents three symmetrical bays. At the center, there is a pilastered and corniced door, which is a 4-panelled door topped with a 4-pane fanlight. The elevation includes later additions of canted windows with lead roofs. The first floor has three windows arranged symmetrically, and there are canted, slate-hung dormers on the outer left and right.
The rear (west) elevation is asymmetrical, featuring a canted window addition at the ground level on the outer right, with stone mullions and transoms, and a window directly above it. A narrow gabled bay is slightly advanced at the center, showcasing a large stair window that consists of a 9-pane over a 12-pane bordered sash and case window, with a smaller window below. The wing on the outer left is advanced and partially clasps the center bay, containing two windows at the ground level and one at the first floor. There is also a lean-to outshot to the west with a single window.
On the south elevation, there is a gable with a centrally located window at the first floor and an apex stack. A modern canted conservatory is added to the ground level on the outer left, resting on a rubble base.
The north elevation features a 2-bay gable with symmetrically disposed windows, although the left window is blind. To the right, there is a slightly recessed 2-bay wing with a lean-to outshot and a lean-to brick boiler at ground level.
The house has 12-pane sash and case windows, with plate glass sash and case windows at the ground level, and 6-pane over plate glass and 4-pane sash and case windows at the rear. The roof is slate, with broad coped apex stacks topped with low circular cans.
