Description

The former coach house at Achnashie, located on Shore Road in Clynder, dates from the early 19th century, around 1820. It is a two-storey, gabled building with a rectangular plan and flanking screen walls. The structure is built from sandstone and whinstone rubble, featuring harl-pointing, ashlar margins and dressings, and quoin strips, along with a slightly projecting plain bargeboard.

The main elevation showcases a two-storey gabled block with a depressed-arch doorway at the ground level, which has a two-leaf boarded door. Above this doorway is a round-arched window that contains a four-pane sash and case, which is barred. The low flanking screen walls have ashlar coping, with a round-arched opening on the left side and a screen wall on the right that has a blind round-arched panel.

On the left return, there is a door and a window at ground level, both set into a relieving arch, while the other elevations are blank. The roof is covered with grey slate and features lead flashings, cast-iron rooflights, and a small brick apex stack with circular cans.
