Description
Glenavon is a later 19th-century, two-storey, gabled L-plan villa situated on sloping ground to the east, featuring a rectangular-plan, gabled, three-storey tower to the north. The building is constructed of rubble with harl-pointing and has painted ashlar margins and dressings. It showcases projecting eaves with exposed rafters, a band course on the east elevation, quoin strips, and stugged quoins.
On the west elevation, the L-plan villa is located to the right and includes a piend-roofed glazed porch in the re-entrant angle. There is a blank wall to the outer right, with windows symmetrically arranged in the outer right gable, including a broad window at ground level. The rectangular-plan gabled tower is to the outer left, featuring a window on the first floor and in the attic, with additional windows on the right return.
The east elevation has a raised basement and a canted bay to the outer right extending from the basement to the first floor. Small windows are symmetrically placed at the basement level, with margins that interrupt the band course. A narrow bay is located at the centre, and a broad gable is advanced to the outer right, featuring a window with a stepped hoodmould and another window in the gablehead. To the outer right, there is a garage block with a boarded garage door and upper lights, along with a modern flat-roofed rendered addition above, which serves as a second storey in the re-entrant angle and includes modern windows. The tower is recessed behind this addition and has a window on both the first and second floors.
The villa features four-pane timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with lead flashings, and coped ridge stacks, some of which have lotus leaf cans.
