Description

1, 2, 3, 4 Clachan Bridge in Rosneath is a two-storey, asymmetrical, L-plan range of council housing designed by Joseph Weekes in 1938. The building showcases a Baronial Arts and Crafts style with painted render and raised cills. The windows are positioned directly under the eaves, which are slightly advanced.

On the northeast (main) elevation, the structure features three blocks that recess step-like to the left. An advanced piend-roofed gable is located at the outer right, with a tripartite window at the ground level consisting of a 12-pane sash and case window in the center flanked by narrow sidelights. Above, there are 16-pane sash and case windows. A lean-to entrance is set in the re-entrant angle, characterized by a curved end and a deeply-set door with a 6-pane upper panel. To the left, there is a two-bay block with a squat tower entrance advanced at the corner, featuring a conical roof and a deeply-set door with a 6-pane upper panel. The left side of this block has narrow lights, while the leftmost section has narrow 8-pane sash and case windows.

The northwest elevation is near-symmetrically arranged with five bays. It includes 16-pane sash and case windows at the ground level and on the first floor to the outer left, with four closely spaced bays to the right. There is a door at ground level with a window above it, and three additional windows at ground and first floor levels to the right. The building features a mix of 16-, 12-, 8-, and 4-pane sash and case windows, topped with a grey slate piended roof and coped sandstone ridge stacks.

The interior was not seen in 1994. The property is enclosed by a low rendered boundary wall with coping and hedging.
