Description

1 Main Street in Glamis is a building dated 1745 that was renovated around 1980. It is a single-storey structure originally consisting of a pair of three-bay thatched cottages that have been converted into one. The exterior features painted harl walls.

The southeast elevation, facing Main Street, is symmetrical, with bays to the left of centre that include a boarded timber door and flanking windows, while the bays to the right of centre mirror those on the left.

On the southwest elevation, there is a gabled section with a small window located off-centre to the right in the gablehead.

The northeast elevation features a blank gable on the left and a slightly recessed wing, which may have been a former outhouse, projecting to the right.

The windows are timber sash and case with a twelve-pane glazing pattern. The roof is thatched with a directional design and a scobed ridge, while the northeast projection has a slated roof. The chimney stacks are coped and harled, topped with polygonal cans and thackstanes.
