Description

The Gate-Lodge at Viewbank, located at 42 Park Road in Brechin, dates from around 1826 and was enlarged later. It features a plain Gothick style and is a single-storey building constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings. The north and south ends have Gothic windows, with a dummy window on the north side. The west elevation includes a panelled door and two bipartite windows, while the roof is piended and slated. The entrance is marked by square ashlar gatepiers topped with cornices. Additionally, there is a cast-iron gas lamp, painted red and gilt, with a domed roof, crest, and finial; this lamp has been converted for electricity.
