44 Bridge Street in Montrose is a mid-19th century house featuring a single storey, attic, and double basement, with three bays on the ground level that slopes down to the rear. The front is constructed of stugged sandstone ashlar, while the rear is made of squared rubble. There is a band course above the basement and at the eaves, with painted raised margins.

The east elevation is symmetrical, showcasing a platt that oversails the basement and leads to a shallow-arched doorpiece with an architraved 6-panel door and a plain fanlight. The flanking bays contain windows at the ground floor and a gabled dormer above. The basement has four windows and a door.

The north elevation is a blank gable end, while the south elevation adjoins 46 Bridge Street. The west elevation consists of four bays, featuring a blinded and piended wallhead dormer in the center and a small piended dormer to the left.

The windows are timber-framed casements, with 4-pane windows at the front and 4 and 6-pane windows at the rear. The roof is pitched with graded slate, coped skews, and a brick gablehead stack on the north side.

The property is enclosed by rubble boundary walls at the rear. The front features square section gatepiers with roundel capitals and quatrefoil decoration at the top, along with decorative cast-iron railings facing Bridge Street.
