Description

Mid 19th century (see Notes). Single storey, attic and double basement, 3-bay house on ground falling to rear. Stugged sandstone ashlar to front, squared rubble to rear. Band course above basement and at eaves. Painted raised margins.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Platt oversailing basement and leading to shallow-arched and architraved doorpiece, 6-panel door, plain fanlight. Bays flanking with window at ground floor and gabled dormer above. 4 windows and door in basement.

N ELEVATION: blank gable end.

S ELEVATION: adjoining 46 Bridge Street.

W ELEVATION: 4 bays, blinded and piended wallhead dormer to centre, small piended dormer to left.

Timber-framed casement windows, 4-pane to front, 4 and 6-pane to rear. Graded slate pitched roof, coped skews, brick gablehead stack to N.

BOUNDARY WALLS, GATEPIERS AND RAILINGS: rubble boundary walls to rear (W). Square section gatepiers to front with roundel capitals and quatrefoil decoration at head. Decorative cast-iron railings fronting Bridge Street.
