Description
65, 67, and 69 Bridge Street in Montrose is a coaching inn dating from the earlier to mid-19th century. It is a two-storey building with an attic, featuring three bays and a pend archway, set within an irregular terrace. The exterior is finished in painted sandstone ashlar, with a band course located beneath the first-floor cills and at the eaves.
On the west elevation, there are two narrow doorways on the right side (Nos 67 and 69), with No 69 featuring a rectangular multi-pane fanlight. The center has a window, and to the left is a large pend entrance (No 65) with a shallow segmental-arched head and timber doors. The first floor has three windows, and there is one canted dormer, slate-hung and offset to the left.
The north elevation is adjacent to 59-63 Bridge Street, while the south elevation is next to 71 Bridge Street. The building has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with coped skews and skew putts, and brick gable-end stacks.
