Description

Dated 1764. 3-storey, symmetrical 3-bay house with 2-storey and attic, single bay return wing to Institution Road. Squared mixed rubble, painted ashlar margins and dressings; harled return gable and wing. Centre entrance with moulded lugged and corniced doorpiece, each spandrel with single carved rosette. Longer windows in lst floor, small in 2nd floor; single ground and later lst floor window in return gable. 4-pane glazing in ground, 2nd floor and return gable windows, 12-pane in lst floor, all timber sash and case windows.

Eaves cornice; margined end stacks; slate roof; sandstone ridge.

Flat skews with moulded and dated skewputt.

INTERIOR: narrow curved staircase; original moulded cornice in lst floor parlour (SE) with replacement section above gable window; original plain ashlar chimneypiece in lst room (NE).
