Description
Dellahaple in Garmouth is a house built between 1820 and 1830. It is a single-storey and attic structure over a raised basement, featuring three bays. The exterior is made of tooled rubble with tooled and polished ashlar dressings. The central entrance has a corniced and columned doorpiece, which is accessed by a wide splayed flight of steps with a cast-iron handrail. The entrance includes a fine beaded panelled door and a fanlight with decorative radial glazing. There is one window in the northeast gable and two windows in the southwest, all with 12-pane glazing. The house has three large modern swept dormers with multi-pane glazing.
Architectural details include a tooled band course between the basement and raised round floor, a wallhead band course, and a deep moulded wallhead cornice. The house has corniced end stacks and a slate roof, along with a rear wing. Inside, the fittings include beaded panelled window shutters.
There is also a servants' house dating from the mid-19th century, which is a single-storey and attic structure with three bays. It is constructed of rubble with tooled rubble margins and features a central entrance and a centre piended dormer. The ground floor has lattice-pane glazing, and the roof is slate.
Surrounding the property are low coped front garden walls and a pair of square tooled ashlar gatepiers with simple moulded caps. High rubble walls enclose the garden in other areas.
