41 Duff Street, Macduff

41 Duff Street in Macduff is a 2-storey house with a dormerless attic, built in 1851 by A and W Reid of Elgin, although the datestone incorrectly states 1841. The house features a three-bay polished ashlar frontage made from Moray sandstone, with rubble gables. The central entrance is pilastered and has a portico supported by two Roman Doric columns. There are flanking windows with cornices and aprons, which have moulded surrounds, and the cills below the first-floor windows are blocked and slightly shorter than those on the ground floor. Above, there is a single central window with a blocked attic window in the north gable that has also been incorrectly re-dated. The building has rusticated ashlar quoins, a moulded eaves cornice, corniced end stacks, and a slate roof, along with a shallow rear stair projection.

Inside, the staircase features simple wooden balusters and a polished handrail, while all rooms have simple cornices. The northwest upstairs room contains plain grey marble chimneypieces, and there are panelled doors throughout.

The house is separated from the street by a low coped garden wall, and the rear garden is enclosed by a high rubble wall.
