Description

Marywell Cottage, dated 1870, is possibly designed by A and W Reid from Elgin. This is an asymmetrical two-storey gabled house featuring harled walls with tooled and polished ashlar margins and dressings. The west front, which faces the lane, has an irregular three-bay layout with an advanced gabled bay on the left and a gabled porch in the re-entrant angle. Above the door, there is a datestone, and to the right, a window with a pediment. The rear elevations include both single and two-storey sections, with margined windows that have 12-pane glazing. The house is adorned with shaped skewputts and apex finials, tall wallhead and ridge coped stacks, and has slate roofs.
