Description
Kennels Cottage, dating from the mid 19th century, is possibly designed by A and W Reid of Elgin. This two-storey estate cottage features a range of outbuildings and dog kennels located behind it. The exterior is harled, accented with Turriff sandstone margins. The central entrance has a two-leaf door with a letterbox strip fanlight, and is sheltered by a gabled wooden porch supported by four tree trunk columns. Ground floor windows flank the entrance, while the upper floor features windows in the outer bays that break the eaves, set in ashlar gabled dormer heads topped with trefoil finials. A skylight is positioned at the center.
The cottage has sash and case windows with a four-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates and features ashlar coped skews and stacks. At the rear, there is a range of single-storey outbuildings that are also harled with ashlar margins, featuring boarded doors and grey slate roofs with ashlar coped skews, and a ball finial on the mutual gable. Additionally, there is a piend-roofed single-storey kennel range with two paved runs, enclosed by simple cast-iron railings topped with ball finials.
