Description
Clarence Street and Limestreet Warehouse, built around 1854, is a large four-storey, twelve-bay warehouse that has been converted into offices. It is located on a prominent corner site and features distinctive semicircular openings on the upper floors. The exterior is constructed from coursed Aberdeen Bond granite with voussoired dressings.
On the east elevation, there is a segmental-arched opening with a large two-leaf timber door in the right bay, and above it are semi-circular openings with an oculus window at the gable apex. To the left, the building has a three-three-three bay arrangement, with a central flat-roofed section flanked by gabled bays. Some louvred rectangular openings, mostly boarded, are present, along with raised cills and lowered aprons to the central bays. Cast-iron oval ties are visible between the floors. The north elevation also features cast-iron oval ties between the bays and floors, continuing into a two-storey, five-bay section on the right.
The windows are multi-astragalled fixed panes, and there are rectangular louvred openings. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are ashlar skews and skewputs. The building has cast-iron rainwater goods, and the two-storey section has a pitched roof made of corrugated iron.
Inside, there is a spiral staircase and cast-iron supporting columns.
