Description

Quay Stores is a mid-19th century warehouse constructed from red rubble stone, featuring two heavy lintel courses made of pink granite and grey limestone dressings around its openings. The building has slate roofs and a two-storey, three-gable front that is angled to follow the bend in the road. Each gable includes a roundel, and the main sections have three windows, with the center section slightly set back. The gables originally had overhanging bargeboards. The north and south end walls are topped with parapets.

The center section has been altered on the ground floor to accommodate a broad modern entry, while the first floor retains four-pane sash windows on either side of a broad depressed-arched loading door. The ground floor originally had matching windows on either side. Each side section features a window, door, and window arrangement on the ground floor, with three four-pane sashes above. The two prominent granite string courses run at lintel height on each floor.

The south end wall is architecturally enhanced with a castellated parapet, one red brick chimney stack, and a centrally placed set of broad doors, with the upper door having a depressed arched head. There is a one-window range on each side, but the granite strings only extend as far as the nearest windows.
