Description
The Waterfront Bistro, formerly known as the Milford Docks Company Offices, is a single-storey building constructed from square rock-faced red rubble stone, featuring tooled grey stone dressings, a slate roof, terracotta ridge, and five red brick stacks. The façade includes three arched doorways and twelve 8-pane sash windows with cambered stone heads, arranged in the sequence of WDW WDW WWDWW WWWW. The doors are double and adorned with large radiating bar fanlights. The south end wall has a plain door at ground level and a small loft window, with a datestone marked 1889. However, the last two bays and this end wall appear to have been added to the original structure, as do the three bays on the left end, which are not depicted in an 1890 photograph from the F Frith collection. Although it was used as Docks Company offices in the later 20th century, it was not originally built for that purpose; it is marked as a Customs House on the 1907 Ordnance Survey map.
