Description
The George IV Memorial is a large plaque made of Coade Stone, featuring three panels that provide a detailed description of the event it commemorates. The plaque is adorned with a festoon of oak leaves that hang from the center and angle lions' heads. Above the main plaque is an attractive rectangular relief depicting a twin-tailed Triton, who is holding a paddle and blowing a coach horn. At the top, there is a prominent shell finial.
Below the main inscription, there is a smaller plaque with pendant labels that record R F Greville as the person who erected the memorial, with the date 'Coade 1822.' The Greville arms on the shield below are damaged. The memorial has experienced considerable surface erosion over time.
