Description

The Sewin Restaurant is a late 19th-century dockside building, constructed as a single storey from square rock-faced red rubble stone, featuring tooled grey stone dressings. The building has a slate roof, terracotta ridge, and five red brick stacks. It includes three arched doorways and twelve 8-pane sash windows with cambered stone heads, arranged in the sequence of doors and windows as follows: WDW WDW WWDWW WWWW. The doors are double and have large radiating bar fanlights. The south end wall features a plain door at ground level and a small loft window, with a datestone indicating the year 1889. However, the last two bays and this end wall appear to have been added to an earlier original structure, as do the three bays on the left end, which are not depicted in a photograph from 1890 in the F Frith collection.
