Harbour Offices, 15-16 Regent Quay, Aberdeen

The Harbour Offices at 15-16 Regent Quay in Aberdeen were designed by A. Marshall Mackenzie and built between 1883 and 1885. This asymmetrical, four-storey classical building is situated on a prominent corner site and features a two-stage square-plan clock tower topped with a stone dome, centrally placed on the flat roof. The principal elevations, facing east and north, are constructed of grey granite ashlar, while the rear is made of coursed pink granite, with some raised granite margins.

The east and north façades each have slightly advanced sections with tetrastyle, partially fluted Ionic pilasters and pediments that rise from the first storey, both placed asymmetrically. The ground floor has round arched openings adorned with decorative carved keystones, and the building includes a base course, as well as cill courses on the first and third storeys, and a blocking course.

The predominant windows on the east façade are timber sash and case with plate glass, while the ground floor features two-pane plate-glass windows with circular motifs in the upper lights. Other elevations have non-traditional windows. The building also has low, broad wallhead stacks.

The interior was comprehensively modernised in 2006.
