Description
Woolworths, located at 82-86 High Street in Wick, was designed by Marshall Mackenzie in 1886. This building features a classical front made of Aberdeen granite, rising three storeys and comprising five bays. The ground floor has a modern shop front that is flanked by fluted angle pilasters. The first and second floors are accented by channelled outer giant pilasters, with windows set in moulded panels. The second floor includes a cill course. Four giant Ionic pilasters support a central entablature and a pediment that encloses a clock. The building is topped with a main cornice and a blocking course, and it has end stacks.
