Description

This is a small, simple bridge likely dating from before 1834, situated over the River Blackwater approximately 1.5 miles north of the village of Killinchy. The bridge, built of basalt rubble, features two segmental arches and cutwaters on each side. The parapet is finished with cement render coping. A metal water pipe has been inserted through the cutwater on the east side. The bridge is partially covered in ivy but remains in good condition and is set at a slight angle to the road. A bridge is depicted on Ordnance Survey maps from 1834 and 1859-60, which probably represents the present structure. The bridge is of industrial archaeological interest.
