The site represents the former location of a single-story thatched cottage, likely dating from before 1834, which has since been demolished. Located on the southern side of Ballydorn Road, approximately two miles northeast of Killinchy, the site is now surrounded by numerous outbuildings, some of which remain in use.

The cottage, as recorded in the first Ordnance Survey maps of 1834 and the revised maps of 1859-60, originally featured a thatched roof, gable ends, and a single-story extension on the right-hand gable. Brick chimneys were present, and the walls were built of stone rubble, rendered and whitewashed. The west-facing front had three single-light and one two-light double-hung windows. The single-light windows lacked astragals, while the two-light windows featured square panes, all with coved angles to the top sash. A doorway positioned between the third and fourth windows was topped with a margined fanlight and included a glazed and panelled door. The front garden was enclosed, and farm buildings stood adjacent. The overall width of the front was around 60 feet.

Valuation records from approximately 1835 indicate that the cottage was occupied by a Hamilton Patton, and a relative of the same name was still living there during the second valuation survey around 1861, at which point it was confirmed that the cottage was leased from a James Ferguson. The building was demolished some time after January 1972.
