Description
Large-ish sprawling, part single, part two storey house, based around a single storey linear dwelling pre 1834 origin, but now completely modernised and extended and bearing little resemblance to the original. The house is set on the E side of the Ballyglighorn Road, c.4 miles N of the village of Killinchy. The front N facade of the original section has a right of centre sheeted door with three modern windows to left and another (slightly smaller) to right. Attached to the E side of the house is a new section set at a right angle to the original with a large gabled bay to front and rear elevations and large modern windows and doors. The rear of the original section has been completely extended with a new section which is part single, part two storey and is entirely modern in appearance with large modern windows and including large gabled half dormer. The W gable of the original section is blank. The entire facade is finished in roughcast and painted. All sections of the roof are gabled and covered in asbestos slates, with a slight overhang. PVC rw goods. Single rendered chimney stack to original section. When first surveyed in January 1974 this building had all the hallmarks of a modest vernacular farm house, long and rectangular in form, whitewashed rubble walls, small sash windows and a thatched roof. Today it is virtually unrecognisable from that description..
