’Barn’, 31 Quarry Road, Lisbane, Killinchy, Co Down, BT23 6AD

This barn was constructed between 1900 and 1919, early in the twentieth century, and recently refurbished. It is a small, single-storey building located on the south side of Quarry Road in Lisbane. The north front is built of red common facing brick and features two openings on the right-hand side, each fitted with timber stable doors. The east gable is built of multi-coloured sandstone with no openings. The rear south face has two near-square window openings, each with modern timber frames lacking astragals, brick dressings to the reveals, concrete lintels, and no sills. The west gable is constructed of stone matching the east gable. The roof is covered in Bangor blue slate and has PVC rainwater goods. A corrugated iron barn, of similar size and shape, was added to the west side at a later date. The structure is shown on the 1921 Ordnance Survey map but not on the 1901 map. It possesses notable characteristics of industrial archaeological interest and is currently used as outbuildings.
