Description
Green Quarry Cottage is a 18th-century quarryman's dwelling located on the west side of Farrington Lane in Doulting. The building is constructed of coursed and squared rubble with freestone dressings, featuring a first-floor band, quoins, and a pantile roof with coped verges and rendered stacks. It exhibits a plain early Georgian style, with a three-storey, three-bayed symmetrical frontage that is small in scale. The windows are 2-pane casements set in broad architraves, with some fixed lights and triple keys on the ground floor, and cills supported by brackets. There is a blocked circular window at the center of the first floor. The central door opening contains a 19th-century half-glazed door and is accompanied by a large 20th-century glazed porch. To the left, there is a single-storey ashlar outshut with a 20th-century glazed door. This cottage is an important survival from its quarrying context.
