Description
West Lane House is an 18th-century house located on West Lane in Emberton. It is constructed of coursed rubblestone and features an old tile roof. The main building has four bays and two storeys, with dormers, and a two-bay wing on the right side, also two storeys high. There is a single-storey west range along West Lane that has a slate roof.
The entrance includes a six-panelled door set within a doorcase that has fluted pilasters and an entablature, topped with a projecting cornice that forms a hood over the second bay from the right. The windows are recessed box sashes with stone arches and keystones, and there is a stone band course between the storeys. The eaves are made of timber, and there are two hipped dormers. The gables are stone-coped and supported by kneelers, with flanking brick stacks.
The right wing is made of rubblestone and features one ground floor left-hand casement window and a three-light casement on the first floor. The range along West Lane includes two casement windows and garage doors. At the rear, there is a staircase wing that contains a staircase with turned balusters, dating from the 18th century.
