Description
Cedar House is a house dating from the 18th century, with an east wing added in 1837. The building has two storeys, and the 18th-century section features dormers. It is constructed of coursed rubblestone, with a plain tile roof on the older part and a slate roof on the 1837 addition. The 18th-century section includes a central mid-19th-century porch with a five-panel door and a rectangular fanlight, flanked by plain pilasters and topped with a cornice. The windows are box sashes set beneath stone arches with key blocks, and there is a band course running along the building. There are also two 2-light dormers with horizontal sliding sashes, and the gables are coped with kneelers and have brick stacks. The 1837 block has two bays of widely spaced sashes, also with stone arches and key blocks, and features stone coped gables with stacks at the east gable and centre. A date stone on the east gable is inscribed with "T.H 1837 E.H.H."
