Description

Emberton House is a farmhouse dating to 1796. The north front is constructed of ashlar, while the remainder is of coursed rubblestone, with old tile roofs. The property comprises a north block with two bays and three storeys, and a double-gabled south block, one bay deep. The north front features two-storey canted bay windows with three-pane sashes to the front and one pane on the sides, and small cornices over each floor. Band courses divide the storeys, and the second floor has tripartite sashes. A moulded eaves cornice runs along the top, with coped gable ends incorporating kneelers and brick stacks. The west gable includes a six-panel door within a reeded pilastered doorcase topped with a dentil cornice and flat hood. To the right of the door is a similar two-storey canted bay. The east front has a gable and a tall staircase window. The south blocks are characterised by stone coped gables and stacks. A date plaque on the south east gable apex displays the date '1796'.
