Description
Montague House is a mid to late 18th-century house located on the east side of Fairford High Street. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with alternating flush quoins and features a stone slate roof with stone end stacks. The building has a single front range and a rear wing to the right, standing two storeys tall with an attic.
The façade includes three windows, which are 12-pane sashes set beneath timber lintels. There are three gabled dormers with 6-pane sashes that extend through the eaves, adorned with stone slate hung gables. On the ground floor, there are two additional 12-pane sashes and a central moulded wooden doorcase. This doorcase is decorated with fluted pilasters and a frieze, topped by a moulded pediment. The door itself features six bolection moulded panels, with the top two being glazed, and it is accessed by one shallow stone step.
