Description
No. 1 High Street is a corner house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble stone with alternating flush quoins. The front range features a slate roof, while the rear range has a stone slate roof. The house has ashlar end stacks that are raised in brick, and a rendered gable end stack at the rear.
The building has a single front range that is two storeys high with an attic, and a rear range along Park Street that is three storeys tall. There are two windows on the first floor, which are 12-pane sashes with timber lintels, and there are similar windows in gabled dormers along the eaves. On the ground floor, there is one 12-pane sash window to the left and a canted 19th-century shop front to the right. The left-hand return facing Park Street features one 4-light leaded casement window below the eaves, along with 20th-century windows that have original timber lintels below.
