Description

No. 77 Chellynch is a cottage dating back to the 17th century, with refurbishment work undertaken in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with freestone dressings, featuring coped verges and a double-Roman tile roof with finials. Tall ashlar stacks are present, and one chimneybreast is exposed.

The building is single-storey with an attic, presenting three windows on the ground floor. A gabled attic dormer is visible, incorporating coping and a shield in relief on the gable face. Most windows are 2 and 3-light stone-mullioned windows, with a single-light opening located to the right of the ground floor. Cornice drips are present, and iron casements are found in some of the window lights. The doorway is within a moulded 4-centred arch surround and contains a freestone plank door, sheltered by a double-Roman tiled pentice supported on two slender wooden posts. The right return displays similar fenestration.
