Description
The Tithe Barn at Manor Farm is a 15th-century structure originally built for Glastonbury Abbey. It features ashlar stonework and stone-tiled roofs with coped verges and finials. The barn has a rectangular shape and includes two gabled porches on each long side. Each porch has a moulded elliptical-headed opening with double plank doors and a blocked pedestrian side doorway. The side elevations are supported by single-stage buttresses with weathered offsets, and there are angle-buttresses at the corners. Each end elevation has a three-stage buttress in the center. The porches and gable faces contain cusped triangular openings, along with single and cross-loop breathers. Inside, the barn consists of eight bays with an arch-braced raised cruck roof, collar leafs, three purlins, and some curved windbraces, similar to the roofs of the porches. The barn is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument (Somerset County Number 23).
